It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a blog post and I figured it might be fun to do a little update regarding our wedding plans as more and more things start to come together. We are so excited and cannot wait for the best day ever!
Photographer!!!
Being a photographer myself, I knew having our day captured perfectly was going to be one of the most important aspects of our wedding to me. This definitely isn’t common, but I actually ended up booking our photographer before booking our venue! I did TONS of research, trying to find someone whose editing style I loved and whose personality I connected with. And WOW y’all I truly could not be more excited about the photographer we chose!
Ashlyn Cathey is INCREDIBLE and truthfully one of the most talented photographers I have ever seen. She’s based out of Knoxville, TN but travels all over photographing weddings and couples. Not only am I obsessed with her work, but she is one of the kindest humans ever! From our initial FaceTime, to her following up with me on my wedding planning process, I’m so thankful for a photographer that is so genuine and thoughtful like Ashlyn! We can’t wait to have her take our engagement pics and photograph our wedding!!! Check out her instagram here!
Venue!!!
I posted a blog post previously about all of the different venues we toured in the Indianapolis area, and we ended up going with Daniel’s Vineyard! I am obsessed with the atmosphere there and the views truly make you feel like you’re in Napa Valley, not Indiana! The staff there have been incredible to work with so far and we have no doubt it will be the perfect spot.
Videographer!!!
We will be having none other than Mallory Myers be the videographer for our wedding! Mal is incredibly talented and I seriously still watch the video she made of our engagement at least once a day… If you haven't seen that one yet, watch it below! We are so pumped to see what she creates on our big day!
Florals!!!
Shortly before I headed back to Alabama my mom and I sat down with our florist to show them around the venue and share all of my floral inspiration photos I’d saved. Needless to say, I’m freaking pumped about the flowers and can’t wait to see all the pinterest inspo come to life. I’m keeping these details a secret for now, but can’t wait to blog allllllll about it after our wedding!
Bridal Party!!!
I’ve been working on bridesmaid asks for the last few months and I am PUMPED to share them with y’all once I ask my girls! Stay tuned for that blog post to come. Joe asked his best man, Cole, last week and it was so sweet! We printed cards that had a funny saying on the front and “Will you be my best man?” on the inside. Then as a gift, we ordered custom leather flasks with the guy’s initials on them! They’re super fun and personalized, definitely fit for the boys.
Honeymoon!!!
This might be one of my favorite parts of wedding planning yet! What could be more fun than looking into different resorts dreaming about being on the beach with your husband?!
Joe and I knew we wanted to go somewhere tropical and stay at an all-inclusive resort to spend time relaxing somewhere warm! After asking facebook friends for their recommendations, we reached out to Lori at Magical Travelers who helped us narrow down our options and find the best deals for what we were looking for. We just booked our stay at Beloved in Playa Mujeres, Mexico! Check out these photos from their website— it looks like a dream!
While we’ve gotten quite a bit planned so far, we still have a lot ahead of us, but I couldn’t be more excited. Having a long engagement has been such a blessing in this season of uncertainty with COVID-19, and I’ve loved having plenty of time to do lots of research as we make more and more decisions. This is the first of probably many blog posts like this, so stay tuned as we get closer and closer to the best day ever!
